Get involved
Involving people who have
experience of using care, their families and their carers in our work is
vital. People who use services are
focused on their experiences and remind professionals what issues are important
to them and to the wider public.
Involving people in our work will directly:
Our Board: It is a legal requirement to involve at least two people with experience of using care on our board. These appointed individuals are full and equal members.
Involving People Group: This is a
national group where people with experiences of care come together to discuss
issues relating to care and support services.
They also look at ways that we can improve our own activities. Watch our video to find out more about our
Involving People Group/
Lay Assessors: These are people that use, or
have used, services, or carers who volunteer to take part in our care service
inspections. They talk to people who use
the service and make observations. The information is then used by the
inspector to report on the service and decide the grades.
Service user/carer inspectors: These
are people who have experience of social work services. They work with Senior Inspectors carrying out
inspection activity of local authorities.

plan on involving people over the next three years, read our
