Using child protection services

The Care Inspectorate has responsibility for leading and coordinating the joint inspection of services to protect children. Inspection teams include staff from the Care Inspectorate,  Health Improvement Scotland (HIS) and Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC).

We want to find out whether you and your children received the right help when you needed it.

If you have had contact with people whose job it is to protect children we will:

  • Send a list of questions to you if your child's name was recently on the Child Protection Register
  • Read written information about your child
  • We may ask to meet you and your child to listen to you views
  • Speak to people who have a job to protect children and keep them safe

We want to speak to lots of parents and carers. What you think really matters.

We will write a report about how well children and young people are protected in your area.  The report will also tell you how well services are managed and improving and what needs to change to make services better.
