What can you do

If you are dissatisfied with the level of care that you or someone that you care for is receiving you have every right to question why something is going on and if the service is failing to meet its duty of care. Also you may not be happy about how we are regulating a particular care service and you may wish to complain about us.

Anyone can complain. You can choose to complain directly to the service. Often the quickest way to resolve a complaint is by raising it directly with the provider. We would encourage this wherever possible. However, you can choose to complain directly to us.

If you make a complaint, you can be sure that:

  • all complaints are taken seriously and handled thoroughly
  • all complaints are dealt with on an individual basis
  • we will decide how your complaint will be investigated, depending on what your complaint is about
  • if we think there will be a delay, we will let you know and give you the reasons for the delay
  • we always try to resolve complaints locally. If your complaint is about a care service, the member of staff who investigates your concerns will usually know that service.
