The 2011 SHASC Conference takes as its theme Changing services for a changing climate. Delegates will hear from service providers and service users how they are responding to the current environment. Speakers will comment on any difficulties being encountered; how changes have been managed; whether service users have been involved and what has been the impact on them. A seminar for 120 Early Years' providers and managers who are in partnership with the City of Edinburgh to provide pre-school provision to young children. The group consists of independent schools, private nurseries and playgroups. This is one of two annual events held to discuss contractual arrangements, termination protocol and areas of development. Alan Urquart from Education Scotland will be giving a presentation in relation to their new inspection model and new structure. Becky Everett will also be giving a presentation on our new structure.

Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA) looks forward to another successful event, bringing Children’s Rights to the forefront. The Edinburgh Hilton Grosvenor Hotel is the venue for SCMA’s annual AGM and Conference which this year will feature a key note speech from Tam Baillie, Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People. Tam will speak to the delegates about Children’s Rights, a key focal point for all working in the child care sector.
