			<title>Care Inspectorate welcomes new Chair</title>

The Care Inspectorate today welcomed the announcement of its new chair.  

Paul Edie has been appointed by Scottish Ministers to chair the board of the Care Inspectorate, the body charged with regulating and inspecting care services and social work across Scotland.

Mr Edie will also sit on the boards of the Scottish Social Services Council and Healthcare Improvement Scotland. He succeeds Professor Frank Clark CBE, who retired last month.

Dumfries and Galloway NHS have recently published a Communication and Mealtimes Toolkit to help people with Dementia.   The Toolkit has been distributed to all care homes in Dumfries andGalloway and there has been a positive response from the managers.

			<title>Care Inspectorate reports on deaths of looked after children</title>

			<description>Scotland&amp;rsquo;s care watchdog, the Care Inspectorate, today published a report (index.php?option=com_docman task=doc_details gid=940 Itemid=378) looking at the deaths of children looked after by local authorities.
Any time a looked after child dies, local authorities must inform the Care Inspectorate, which is charged with reviewing the circumstances of the death.
